Tauwhareparae Farms near Tolaga Bay in a good space

1 min read

Those who have watched Tauwhareparae Farms - the major asset of Gisborne District Council’s commercial arm, Gisborne Holdings - struggle to find a formula that works for the benefit of shareholders and know the difficulties faced by livestock farmers over the last couple of years will appreciate the efforts that have been made to recover from the devastating 2023 cyclones Hale and Gabrielle.

Those with long memories will also accept that the changes made to the livestock and forestry industries on the Coast in retiring large tracts of grazing land will open opportunities for those who remain in the higher-producing country.

While it is too early to say whether the season will be the best for some time, all the signs are that Tauwhareparae Farms is in a good position to take advantage of the stock shortage that will occur.

It is in a good space and the management should be complimented for their tenacity and enduring commitment to one of Tairawhiti’s main assets.

Well done team.
